The Foundation for the Conservation of the Maltese Honey Bee, together with The GROW 10 TREES Project (G10T), is proud to launch Pollinatives once again, as the initiative enters its third edition. This is an initiative that celebrates and promotes the native flora essential to Malta’s pollinating insects, including the beloved Maltese Honey Bee (Apis mellifera ruttneri), our National Insect.
Some of the nectariferous native local plants include Thyme (Sagħtar), Riħan (Common Myrtle), Sicilian Silver Ragwort (Kromb il-Baħar Isfar), Chaste Tree (Virgi), Bużbież (Fennel) and Capers (Kappar). This campaign aims to encourage the public to plant and protect local species that sustain vital pollinators. By taking part, you’re helping preserve Malta’s natural heritage and supporting a healthier ecosystem.

How You Can Get Involved
- Send a self-addressed envelope to: 134, Flt 2, Tal-Mixura, Moroni Street, Sliema, SLM1211. Be sure to include a note with #POLLINATIVES. In return, you’ll receive a selection of seed packs containing local floral species important for pollinators, plus a Foundation postcard!
