Hello! I’m In-Naħla Katerina, the Maltese Honey Bee, the National Insect of Malta, and I’m very excited to let you know that I now have my own Facebook page and YouTube channel. These new platforms are here to help me connect with all of you — children, teachers, parents, and anyone who loves nature, language and Maltese culture.
My Facebook page is specially created for educators, parents, and the general public who wish to follow my adventures and access useful resources. The content I share is written in simple, child-friendly language, so that even the youngest readers can enjoy and understand. On this page, I will be posting news, updates, and educational materials related to my songs and messages about nature.
On my YouTube channel, you’ll find colourful slideshow videos of each song in the project, designed to make learning fun and engaging. These videos include bright illustrations, catchy melodies, and easy-to-follow lyrics, all created to help children learn about pollinators, biodiversity, and the importance of protecting our environment.

A Project for Children, Nature and Language
These online platforms are part of the wider Maltese Honey Bee Education Through Songs and Rhymes project. This initiative is led by Dylan Farrugia and Abner Joe Buttigieg, with support from the Small Initiatives Support Scheme (SIS), managed by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS), and backed by the Ministry for Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector (MIV).
Throughout 2025, I’ll be starring in three original songs that celebrate Malta’s unique wildlife and encourage children to care for the natural world:
- In-Naħla Katerina (released on World Bee Day – 20th May 2025): introducing me and my role in nature.
- Festin Għad-Dakkara (released on 16th June 2025 for Pollinator Week): a fun song about all kinds of pollinators, even the ones we don’t usually notice.
- In-Naħla u Sħabha (coming on 24th September 2025): where I introduce children to Malta’s six national species and their habitats.
All songs have been created with educational goals in mind — to promote environmental awareness, support early language learning, and strengthen children’s connection to their local identity.
Follow My Journey
I invite you to follow me on Facebook and subscribe to my YouTube channel to explore the wonderful world of bees, flowers, and Maltese nature. Whether you’re at home, in the classroom, or just curious about what I’m up to, I’d love to share my journey with you.
Let’s discover, learn and sing together — while protecting the beautiful environment we all call home.
See you online!
