Karaoke Version of “Festin Għad-Dakkara” Released

Released on 16th June 2025 to mark the beginning of Pollinator Week, Festin Għad‑Dakkara has already charmed children, educators, and families alike with its imaginative lyrics and catchy melody. Now, the excitement continues with the release of the official karaoke version, giving children the chance to become the lead singers in this vibrant musical celebration.

This special version keeps the cheerful instrumental track but removes the main vocals, encouraging children to sing the song themselves. Whether performing it at school, in the community, or at home with family, the karaoke version offers an interactive and creative way to engage with the song’s message.

A Musical Celebration of Pollinators

Festin Għad‑Dakkara, written by Rita Pace, composed by Augusto Cardinali, and performed by Christabelle Scerri, brings the world of pollination to life in a playful and meaningful way. The song presents pollination as a grand wedding feast—where flowers, bees, butterflies, wasps, and flies all come together in a joyous celebration of nature’s harmony.

Through its lively rhythms and vivid storytelling, the song introduces children to the essential work of pollinators in helping plants reproduce and ecosystems flourish. It highlights the simple truth that without these small creatures, many fruits, vegetables, and seeds would not grow, and the natural world would lose much of its beauty, variety, and balance.

The karaoke version deepens that connection even further. Singing along helps children internalise the words and concepts, supporting both environmental understanding and expressive communication.

Record Your Version and Share It!

Children, families, and schools are invited to record their own performances of Festin Għad‑Dakkara using the karaoke track. Whether it’s a solo performance in the living room, a duet between siblings, or a whole classroom coming together in song, every recording is welcome.

Send submissions to nahlamaltija@gmail.com. Selected recordings may be shared on the Foundation’s platforms or shown at future events that celebrate Malta’s natural environment and biodiversity. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to share their creativity and feel part of a wider community effort to protect pollinators.

A Resource for Learning and Fun

Designed with children aged 7 to 10 in mind, Festin Għad‑Dakkara is not only fun but also educational. Its clear, rhythmic language makes it a valuable tool for language learning, particularly in Maltese. Singing helps children develop vocabulary, improve pronunciation, and build memory skills in a natural and enjoyable way.

At the same time, the song supports environmental education, encouraging children to recognise the importance of pollinators in food production and ecosystem health. It nurtures curiosity, empathy, and a sense of responsibility for the world around them.

Ideal for use in science and language lessons, school assemblies, or as a family activity, this karaoke track beautifully blends music, movement, and meaningful learning.

A Feast for the Eyes and Ears

Accompanying the song is a vibrant slideshow video by Michael Piscopo, featuring colourful illustrations of Katerina the Bee and her pollinator friends. Children can watch them flit from flower to flower, helping young viewers connect the lyrics with the natural scenes. The visual storytelling adds depth and delight to the learning experience.

The release of the karaoke version of Festin Għad‑Dakkara adds a fresh and exciting layer to this musical journey. By giving children the opportunity to sing, perform, and share, the project continues to inspire a love for pollinators and the natural world.
