Yesterday’s talk, Exploring the Maltese Honey Bee delivered by administrator Dylan Farrugia, held in collaboration with Friends of the Earth Malta, was a wonderful success; filled with learning, networking, and a shared love for Malta’s natural heritage!
Guests joined us at FoEM‘s welcoming premises in Floriana, for an engaging talk on the Maltese Honey Bee, our very own endemic pollinator and a cornerstone insect for local sustainable apiculture. The discussion raised awareness and shed light on its link to the Maltese islands (both ecologically and culturally), the vital role it plays in local biodiversity and some of the pressing challenges it is facing, which is putting it at risk of extinction. Following the talk, attendees rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on community gardening session, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Grand Harbour.
We also had a sweet surprise on offer—a selection of lovingly handmade figolli and figollini prepared by one of our amazing supporters were a hit! We wish to thank all those who bought these delicious treat with all proceeds going towards fund-raising for the Foundation. Only a few remaining! If you haven’t had a chance to grab one yet, now’s the time!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Friends of the Earth Malta for their generous invitation, warm hospitality, and meaningful collaboration. A special thank you to Damjan Attard and Michaelangelo Galea for their outstanding coordination and dedication in making the event a success. It’s partnerships like these that allow us to continue nurturing and protecting Malta’s biodiversity, in all its beautiful forms.
Here’s to more shared moments, more green spaces, and more buzzing (and healthy) Maltese Honey Bees!
