Following our recent collaboration with Mount St Joseph Retreat House as a Custodian within the Custodians of the National Insect project, we were honoured to be invited to join the extended Jesuit community for their Palm Sunday gathering.
During the event, the Foundation delivered an informative talk on the Maltese Honey Bee, exploring its unique morphology, its deep-rooted connection with the Maltese Islands, and the diversity and characteristics of local honeys. We also shared insights into the National Insect initiative and highlighted the important role of the Custodians Project in raising awareness and safeguarding this endemic species for future generations, within which Mount St Joseph Retreat House is a partner.
The gathering offered a meaningful opportunity to connect with the community, exchange knowledge, and reflect on the importance of caring for our natural heritage. At the close of the activity, those present could further supported the Foundation through available merchandise including Maltese honey from Katerina’s collection which is produced by the Maltese Honey Bee, as well as special traditional figollini kindly prepared by Ta’ Marjolina.
