During the Annual KSU Kokka Night, held on 16th May at Xara Lodge, Dylan Farrugia, co-founder and president of the Foundation, was recognised for his impactful work with the NGO. Despite its short history, the NGO has made significant strides, notably leading a successful initiative that resulted in the Maltese Honey Bee (Apis mellifera ruttneri) being officially declared Malta’s National Insect.

Organised by the Kunsill Studenti Universitarji (KSU), Kokka Night celebrates university students who have demonstrated outstanding dedication, enthusiasm, and hard work throughout the academic year, excelling across various fields. Dylan Farrugia received the ‘KOKKA QALBIENA’ award, which recognises a university student who exemplifies social conscience through charity or voluntary work.
I am truly humbled and honoured to receive this award. It is both a personal milestone and a heartfelt reminder of the importance of the work we do as students and active members of society. I would like to sincerely thank my fellow university friends for putting forward my nomination, and express my gratitude to KSU for their thoughtful recognition. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners of this year’s KOKKA Awards. Your dedication, passion, and perseverance have not gone unnoticed. The fact that your work has been recognised means that you have already sparked meaningful change, even if in the life of just one person and that in itself is powerful. Keep being that positive force our country and the world needs.
